Trochoids

This project is an exploration of the movements of trochoids. Trochoids are curves drawn by a point fixed on a circle rolling along a line. When the rolling circle is rolling around another circle, the traced form is called an epitrochoid. When the rolling circle is rolling on the inside of another circle, the traced form is called a hypotrochoid. Through programmed interactive animations and a 3d model I tried to visualise and abstract these motions and curves. The visualisations should provide a fun and playful way for the viewer to get to know and understand the concept of trochoids.
